Team PEUGEOT TotalEnergies has announced the unveiling of the 2024 PEUGEOT 9X8, set to debut at the 6 Hours of Imola on April 21st, marking the second round of the 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship. Following extensive testing covering several thousand miles, the new model boasts adaptations to optimise tyre setup and aerodynamics, capitalising on changes to regulations allowing for varying widths at the front (29cm) and rear (34cm).
Retaining 90% of its bodywork from the previous version, the PEUGEOT 9X8 now incorporates a rear wing to enhance its performance. The collaboration between PEUGEOT Design and PEUGEOT Sport has resulted in a unique livery featuring the brand's iconic Lion emblem, symbolising speed, flexibility, and strength.
With upgrades aimed at enhancing performance, reliability, and competitiveness, the 2024 PEUGEOT 9X8 reflects the team's commitment to securing a leading position in the fiercely contested Hypercar class. Notably, modifications were made to align with changes in regulations since the car's initial design phase, ensuring maximum potential and compliance with ambitious targets.
Olivier Jansonnie, Peugeot Sport Technical Director, emphasised the significance of adapting the car's design to match competitors, leading to adjustments in tire widths, center of gravity, aerodynamics, and component weight. These alterations, accompanied by reliability and performance enhancements, aim to position the PEUGEOT 9X8 as a frontrunner in the championship.
Matthias Hossann, PEUGEOT Brand Design Director, highlighted the collective spirit within the team, reflected in the livery's "Pack Of Lions" theme, symbolising teamwork and talent.
Following its debut at Imola, the 2024 PEUGEOT 9X8 replaces the previous version, signalling the team's determination to excel in the upcoming season. Linda Jackson, Brand Chief Executive Officer of PEUGEOT, expressed pride in the team's dedication and emphasized the brand's commitment to leaving a mark in endurance racing.
Jean-Marc Finot, Stellantis Motorsport Senior VP, commended the team's efforts in redesigning the car to adapt to evolving regulations, ensuring competitiveness while staying within the Balance of Performance limits.
