MG (Morris Garages) is a British automotive marque founded in 1924 by Cecil Kimber. The company began as a sales promotion sideline within Morris Garages, a retail sales and service centre in Oxford, England. Kimber began building his own versions of Morris cars, featuring sportier bodies and more powerful engines. The MG name was first used on a car in 1924, and the first factory-built MG, the MG 14/28, was introduced in 1925. MG became a standalone brand in its own right in the 1930s and gained a reputation for building sporty roadsters such as the MG T-type and the MG M-type. During the 1950s and 1960s, MG expanded its range to include the MG A and MG B models, which were popular with enthusiasts and helped establish the brand's reputation for building fun-to-drive cars. In the 1970s and 1980s, MG was acquired by British Leyland and then by the Rover Group, but struggled to compete with more modern cars from other manufacturers. MG went through a series of ownership changes and production was suspended in 1980. In the 1990s and 2000s, MG was relaunched under new ownership and has since released a number of new models, including the MG F, MG TF, and MG 6. Today, MG is owned by the Chinese company SAIC Motor and continues to produce cars, with a focus on affordable, sporty vehicles for the Chinese and European markets.
Whether or not you should lease an MG vehicle depends on your personal circumstances and needs. Leasing a vehicle can be a good option for people who want to drive a new car every few years, want lower monthly payments and don't want the responsibility of selling the vehicle when they're done with it.
