The Fiat 500 is a small city car that was first manufactured in 1957. The Fiat 500 is a front-wheel drive, four-door hatchback car. The Fiat 500 was originally designed by Dante Giacosa and launched as the Nuova (new) 500 in Italy in 1957.
The first Fiat 500s were powered by an air-cooled, rear-mounted 479 cc two-cylinder engine with a top speed of 55 km/h (34 mph). The Nuova 500 never became popular outside Italy but the model was introduced to other European markets in the 1960s.
The Fiat 500 has undergone many changes over the years including being redesigned with a more modern body style and a larger engine.
